Our History
Kuwait Bilingual School 2 (KBS 2) is a private, independent institution founded in 1998 with a mission to provide quality, bilingual, values-based education to scholars in the Al-Jahra community and surrounding areas.
In September 2015, Pre-K to Grade 1 scholars moved to a new, modern campus in Saad Al Abdullah City, with the rest of the school following in May 2016.
KBS 2’s journey with the International Baccalaureate (IB) began in June 2013 when it was first authorized as an IB World School for the Primary Years Programme (PYP). In December 2017, the school successfully completed a PYP evaluation visit. The school expanded its IB offerings by becoming a candidate for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in April 2015 and receiving full authorization in June 2018. In 2024, KBS2 applied for and received Diploma Programme (DP) authorization, marking a historic milestone as the first fully authorized IB continuum bilingual school in Kuwait.
KBS 2 offers a comprehensive academic program fully licensed by the Ministry of Education for grades Kindergarten to 12. In March 2016, the school earned full accreditation from the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA), reflecting our dedication to academic excellence and continuous growth. In 2024, KBS 2 completed a preparatory visit with the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is on track to receive CIS accreditation by 2026.

The Founding Father of KBS 2
In 1998, the late Saleh Al Mekhlef – entrepreneur, innovator, and visionary – founded Kuwait Bilingual School in his hometown of Al Jahra, Kuwait. Driven by a passion for delivering quality, international, bilingual education to Kuwait’s second-largest city.
The foundations of KBS were laid in March 1998 and completed in August of the same year. The school opened its doors in September 1998 with a single Nursery, KG1, and KG2 class of 45 scholars.
